Description :
Kutajarista is a well knownpolyherbal preparation of which the main ingredient is thestem bark of Holarrhenaantidysenterica(HA). HA belonging to familyApocynaceaecommonly known as Kutaja or Kurchi distributed in Asia, tropical areas of Africa,Madagascar, India, Philippines and Bangladesh. Its major chemical constituents areconessine, holarrhine, kurchine and kurchicine. It is anthelmintic, stomachic,antipyretic and is generally administered as an extract or decoction in amoebicdysentery.

Composition:
Each 5 ml BacicureSyrup Contains extracts of the following ingredients below:
Holarrhenaantidysenterica 1.61gm
Vitisvinifera 0.81gm
Madhucaindica 0.16 gm
And other ingredients with excipients as needed.

PHARMACOLOGY :

Holarrhenaantidysenterica(HA) have been effectively used to clear all known
parasites in the GIT. HA contains a broad spectrum of naturally occurringphytochemicals which are known lethal antagonists to parasites. In addition, it
contains bitter alkaloids, which act as a natural tuner and strengthener of the GIT. Theactive component conessine helps to improve feces formation and regulate bowelmovement by improving the contraction and relaxation activities of the gut, whichare mediated through activation of histamine (H3) receptor and Ca++ channelblockade. It is also effective in treating multi-drug resistant E. coli, Shigelladysenteriae,Shigellasonnei, E. histolyticaand Salmonella typhiinfection, which is an importantcause of severe enteric diseases worldwide.

INDICATION & USES :
BACICURE®syrup is indicated in Dysentery (Both amoebic and bacillary), Giardiasis,Helminthiasis and Inflammatory bowel disease (Colitis &Crohn’s disease). It is alsoeffective in hepatic amoebiasis, hepatosplenomegaly and intestinal parasites.

Dosage and Administration:
Below 6 years: ½ – 1 teaspoonful (2.5 – 5 ml) 2 – 3 times dailyafter meal
6 – 12 years: 1 teaspoonful(5 ml) 3 times dailyafter meal
Above 12 years and Adult: 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) 3 times dailyafter meal for 7 – 14 days.In case of colitis, duration should be increased of 3 months or as prescribed by the Reg.Physician.

Side effect :
Holarrhenaantidysenterica(BACICURE® ) is completely safe and non-toxic to use. Unlike other anti-parasitic medication, it works naturally without toxic side effects or the use of toxic drugs that may cause nausea, diarrhea and headaches.

Contraindications :
HA (Holarrhenaantidysenterica)is well tolerated but caution should be taken in hypotension, kidney disease and DM. Patients with any severe medical conditions should talk to their doctors before taking HA.

Drug interactions :
In some extent with high dose it may cause vasodilatation, hypoglycemia and CNS
depression. So, there are a few chances to potentiate the activity of antihypertensive, antidiabetic and CNS depressive agents.

Pregnancy and lactation:
It should not be taken during pregnancy although medical literature has not
reported any adverse effects related to fetal development during pregnancy or to infants who are breast-fed..
